A lot has been happening since my last column. Last weekend, I took my daughter and her things to,her new apartment in North Carolina. She is starting classes in graduate school tomorrow. She is taking the first step in the next chapter of her life, and I couldn't be prouder.
On the sales side, I've had a number of successful events. I also had some great feedback from a couple young readers who are enjoying my books.
Finally. I am happy to say that today I have finished the first draft of Serpent's Den. It is 90 typewritten pages, 19,500 words. It is about the same length as Fire & Ice. That's good. I am trying to be consistent with this series.

One day, I am planning to release the entire series in one volume, so keeping each story to 100 words or less is my goal.
As for the draft, I think it's pretty good. I won't know for sure until I read it through. Then, I will make changes. My hope, though, is that they won't have to be major. Once I've edited it, then I can pass along the manuscript to my test readers and my artist, Emily Hurst Pritchett.
I'll let you know how my read through goes next time.
Peace
